Club leaders

We are a very friendly approachable bunch. All of us have a Leader in Running Fitness award from Welsh Athletics, and some have more coaching qualifications. Here's a little more information about our leaders:

Helen McDaid
Our group's a very friendly non competitive group. We range from students to grand mothers, 10 to 14 min milers. Sue and I run the group together so we get plenty of time to chat to everyone as we run. We like a good gossip as we go.

I started running in 2004 because I promised to do The Great North Run and I've never looked back. I've run various 5k 10k and 1/2 marathon races, usually keeping the ambulance company. (Someone has to) I qualified to be a leader in 2005. I also have my Level 2 UK Athletics Coaching qualification.

Sue Pendleton

I have been running with the club for 5 1/2 yrs I started running to lose weight but things seemed to snowball and last year I completed my first marathon. The group has become more than a running club, it has helped me achieve things that I never imagined possible making a lot of friends for life on the way.
Jenny
Jenny has been running for 8 years and sometimes races. She often runs 5ks or 10ks and occasionally half marathons. She trained as a Group Leader in 2007 and enjoys leading groups and encouraging other runners to progress. We have runners of all speeds and experience, so if you would like to join us, we would love to hear from you!

Finola

I’ve been running since 2001 when I realised I was 3 stones overweight, unfit and needed to give up smoking. Having sorted out all 3, I now run a Friday group and my own personal training business, as well as Swansea Power Walkers Club. I’m a UK Athletics Level 2 Endurance Coach and a Level 3 Personal Trainer. My running group are a friendly bunch. We welcome all abilities and no one gets left behind. So come along and try us out … you never know what you might be capable of!"

Alison Atkins

I joined the club at the end of 2005, and struggled to run 3 miles. I kept coming back because the club was friendly and inclusive and it gave me the confidence to build my fitness up in a slow, controlled and sensible way. Since then, I've done several 5 and 10k events, run 3 half marathons and I ran the London Marathon (slowly) in April 2009. If I can do this, everybody can. Why not come along and see what it's like? Nothing scary, I promise!
